Shared Sky Exhibition 25 Jul — 3 Sep 2016
This exhibition brings together South African and Australian indigenous artists in a collaborative exhibition celebrating humanity’s most ancient cultural wisdom, alongside one of the world’s greatest scientific and engineering endeavours: the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope.
This vision embodies the spirit of international science and engineering collaboration, bringing together many nations around two sites in South Africa and Australia, to observe and study the same sky. The exhibition was developed by SKA Organisation, SKA Australia and SKA South Africa in collaboration with the Yamaji Art Centre, Geraldton, Western Australia and the First People Centre at the Bethesda Arts Centre, Nieu Bethesda, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Interactive workshops with the artists, kindly supported by Arts Council England, run between Monday 25 and Friday 29 July.
