Crossing the Solway: Tracing the Rickerbys of Dumfriesshire and Cumbria’
A life at sea was rarely romantic but, for many people of Dumfries and Galloway, life was lived on the Solway Firth, a life dictated by tides and winds, of acquaintances, friends and family on both sides of the racing tides, of local shipping and of transporting stone further down the coast. Dr Alan Crosby’s talk is sure to be full of family tales, clues to help us trace our ancestors, and stories of the people who were Crossing the Solway.
Speaker: Dr. Alan Crosby.
This meeting will be held in Performance Space 1.
